Marjorie "Margie" Shaw Obituary

Lifelong Pawhuska resident Marjorie “Margie” Shaw passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, in the Pawhuska Hospital. She was 84 years young.

Margie was born January 25, 1940, in Pawhuska, the daughter of Claude N. and Jimmie P. (Tippit) Irby, and twin sister to Martha. On January 5, 1962, Margie married Phillip Shaw in Pawhuska. He preceded her in death April 15, 1993. She worked in the banking/finance business, working at Transamerica Finance and Osage Federal Savings and Loan (later American Heritage Bank).

A lifetime member of the Pawhuska First Baptist Church, Margie was active in the Children’s Ministry and Nursery. The children were always her priority. She was also a member of the Pawhuska Hospital Auxiliary and served as an election worker for the Osage County Election Board. In her spare time, Margie enjoyed running. She participated in the Tulsa Run on numerous occasions, at least to the age of 60. She enjoyed mowing lawns, not only her own, but for others as well. Perhaps Margie’s favorite pastime was watching her nieces and nephews participate in their various sporting events. She also enjoyed watching sports on television in later years as well. She was a kind and caring individual who will be missed by a multitude of family and friends.

Survivors include her twin sister, Martha M. Hayes; special niece Beverly Moore and husband, Terry; sister-in-law Berniece Irby; nieces and nephews JR Reed, Claude “Trea” Irby and wife, Lisa; Alan “AJ” Irby and wife, Angela; Valerie Hinson and husband, Stephen; David Irby and wife, Tammy; Paul Irby and wife, Malia, Deborah Salerno and L. Jean Martin-Gilmore; special great nephew and great niece Steven Moore, wife Baylee, and children Emma, Will, Madden and Scout; and Stephanie Jensen and children Mylee and Jase; her dear friend and co-worker, Kristen Guy, along with a host of other family. In addition to Phillip, Margie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert, Claude, Jr., James and Alan Irby.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Margie’s honor to the FBC Playground Fund, Pawhuska First Baptist Church, 302 E. 6th, Pawhuska, OK 74056.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 10:00AM, at the Pawhuska First Baptist Church. Rev. Justin Turney will officiate, assisted by Rev. Mark Buchanan. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
